Introduction to Computers

Learn the basics of using a Windows computer. Boost your keyboarding speed so that you can use a computer efficiently. This course meets the adult school’s high school diploma requirements for a technology course. Priority enrollment are for students pursuing a high school diploma, but open to all who may benefit as space is available.

Vallejo City Unified School District Substitute Secretary Workshop

This free five-hour workshop provides training in secretarial skills and office operation protocols to enable individuals to effectively serve in school and district department offices. These two session workshops will be held in room 20 at the Regional Education Center at 436 Del Sur Street, Vallejo, CA  94591. First part of the workshop is from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday and second part is the testing on Wednesday from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.  

Must attend workshop before testing can be taken.

Seating is limited to 15 students per session.  It is on a first come first serve basis. Must register one week prior to workshop. In order to hold class we must have a minimum of 10 enrolled. 

The Monday session provides orientation and skill training. Students take the competency test in the Wednesday session. You must complete both sessions of the workshop to be certified. A certificate will be provided to students who pass competency test. The certificate is required to be placed on the substitute secretary list at the Human Resources Offices.

The Paraeducator/Paraprofessional class prepares students to meet the mandates of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), which is required to become a Paraeducator/Paraprofessional in California. Students receive classroom instruction and are tested in Reading, Language Arts, Math, and Ability to Assist in K-12 classrooms.

  • Must be 18 years old to register.
  • Must register in person at Regional Education Center.
  • Must take placement testing Reading and Math before start date of class.
  • Students must attend all 30 hours in the session.
  • To receive a certificate of completion student must pass the Para Ed Test at the end of the session.
